Has it been tough to feel like yourself? Has it been difficult to do some things that use to be really easy? Do you find yourself feeling annoyed and irritable on a regular basis? Do you tend to focus on the negative aspects of situations? Is it hard to fall asleep and stay asleep? These questions point to common symptoms of depression.

Do you tend to think about a lot of possible negative outcomes? How often does your planning turn into worrying? Do you have moments when you just feel like something bad is going to happen? Do you fidget a lot or feel jittery even when you haven’t had coffee? These questions point to typical symptoms of anxiety.

Depression and anxiety are EXTREMELY common. There are a ton of things that can lead to you experiencing either or both. And regardless of what led to you feeling this way, I’d love to help you manage it better. I work with people ages 10+.

You don’t have to be dealing with trauma, depression or anxiety to benefit from counseling. I get to help people adjust to life changes, communicate better, improve relationships, build self-esteem, navigate grief etc. Counseling is a great way to discuss things in a safe and non-judgmental space. It’s a place where you’ll feel understood and valued.

My Approach

What to expect

Forget about what you’ve seen on TV. You’re not going to lay back on a couch and talk about dreams while I write on a notepad and ask, “how does that make you feel?” We’re going to discuss your challenges and explore contributing factors to those challenges. I’m going to teach you skills. I’m going to explain alternative perspectives and approaches to be healthier. You’re going to feel supported and validated. My goal is to make counseling enjoyable overall. I want you to look forward to your sessions.

Some people feel awkward when a one-on-one conversation is focused on them. It is my job to help you feel comfortable. If you come in with an open mind and a willingness to tell me about you, I’ll take care of the rest. Before you know it, you’ll probably love having a safe space to discuss anything.

How long does a session last?

Initial appointments are 1 hour. For children and teenagers, I do the initial appointment with only the parent(s)/ guardian(s). This gives us the opportunity to discuss everything openly and candidly. Sometimes I need information that isn’t appropriate to discuss in front of someone under 18. The remainder of the sessions are 45 minutes. Additional time can be requested for an additional charge.

How often will we meet?

That depends on your needs. Some people only need counseling for a few months. Some people need it for years. You and I will determine a plan that works for you. We will identify a few goals for you, and work towards reaching them. When you are satisfied with your progress, we can take a break.

How much will this cost me?

Going to counseling is investing in yourself. You are getting expert assistance from a licensed therapist with extensive experience and training. You are investing so that you can enjoy your life more. You are investing in your health.

Initial Assessment - $170

Session - $135

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, I accept United Healthcare Insurance. Your co-payment is based on your specific plan. Please contact your insurance provider to learn more about how your mental health benefits work.
